CBD is our main ingredient at NATUREIGHT Laboratories. To use it in a safe and healthy way, it is already important to understand what Cannabidiol is and how it can be used. Zoom on the subject with our dedicated article.
CBD : Cannabidiol
Cannabidiol is one of the 144 cannabinoids that can be found in hemp (variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species): CBD, CBC, CBG, CBN, etc. Hemp is composed of several families of active ingredients, such as cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. It is an ancestral plant, which has been cultivated on every continent for thousands of years: it is one of the oldest plants domesticated by Man.
How does CBD work?
Cannabidiol influences endo-cannabinoid system’s receptors: a set of receptors that can be found everywhere in our body, which allow to control the different key factors of the body: temperature, acidity, mood, etc.
Where are endocannabinoids receptors?
What is hemp used for?
Hemp is used to obtain CBD. It is a plant cultivated by the numerous civilizations of the planet, for different uses: its resistant stems are used as raw materials for the clothing, insulation, construction or even biofuel industries, and its seeds are very well known for their benefits in the food, cosmetics and medical fields. Hemp is now being cultivated to benefit from its cannabinoids as well.
What are the effects of CBD?
The CBD is now widely used in Europe, and also studied by many scientific centers around the world. In countless countries, Cannabidiol is prescribed under medical prescription for its relieving action on multiple sclerosis and refractory epilepsy. It is also available over-the-counter, and numerous studies have highlighted its incredible benefits on inflammation, stress, anxiety and osteoarthritis. In our blog, you can find a lot of information on the use of Cannabidiol, and the different studies available on the subject.

How to choose the right CBD product?
In order to determine which CBD product best suits your needs, it is important to determine why you are planning to use Cannabidiol. The different ways in which Cannabidiol can be administered also affect the results of this molecule in your body.
Different ways of administering CBD
CBD oil : it is composed of a hemp extract rich in Cannabidiol, and associated with a vegetable oil (hemp seed or olive oil for example) to be able, on the one hand, to strengthen its assimilation, and on the other hand to provide nutrients essential to the proper functioning of your body. By depositing the oil under the tongue, you benefit from its direct action via the mucous membranes. It is the most well-known and most used method of consumption because it brings an intense and quickly effect (30 minutes to 1 hour).
CBD capsules : they are composed of a hemp extract rich in cannabidiol and other natural plant ingredients (either in butter or vegetable oils). Absorbed orally with a full glass of water and therefore digested, they take a little longer to work, but allow you to enjoy the benefits of CBD and the other ingredients for longer.
CBD creams : These products contain cannabidiol and various natural and non-natural ingredients. They allow the use of CBD in local applications, directly on the skin. We cannot quantify their contribution, but it is the most effective way to relieve, for example, the epidermis.
CBD e-liquids : they are made with a regular e-liquid base and cannabidiol is added. They are used as normal e-liquids.
CBD dosage
To use Cannabidiol, it is best to start with low intakes and increase as you go along. For oils, use 10 to 20 mg of CBD per day, then increase 5 by 5 if you do not feel the desired effects. For capsules, you can start with two 10 mg capsules of Cannabidiol per day, then add a third one if necessary.
CBD for animals?
Mammals, just like humans, have an endo-cannabinoid system, so they are also receptive to CBD. Our four-legged friends are very fond of Cannabidiol: stress, anxiety, osteoarthritis, epilepsy and joint problems are the main reasons for using Cannabidiol in animals. Almost every available study on CBD is performed on animals. You can administer CBD Natureight oils to your pet by placing a few drops under its tongue or on its food.
How Cannabidiol is extracted?
Cannabidiol is extracted from the biomass of European hemp: it goes through Supercritical CO2 machines, which allow the active ingredients to be extracted. In this way, producers obtain a pure paste containing the different cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. Unlike others, NATUREIGHT production laboratories do not exceed 72°C in their extraction process: this guarantees a pure, healthy product, which contains many more active elements of hemp than others and without having degraded them by heat.
What is the difference between CBD and THC ?
THC is the cannabinoid most sought after by recreational cannabis enthusiasts because it offers psychotropic effects. Unlike its cousin THC, Cannabidiol has none of these effects: if you use it, you do not experience any change in your consciousness or perception. Therefore it is totally legal in Europe, and very safe to use, as confirmed by the WHO.
Is CBD legal?
Yes, CBD is legal as long as it comes from European hemp and does not contain THC, which is the case for NATUREIGHT products range.
Does CBD have any side effects?
The side effects of CBD are minimal and infrequent. The following side effects can be noted: dry mouth, nausea, drop in blood pressure.
